About Us

Our hospital is a public pediatric teaching hospital located on Qanat Street in Sulaymaniyah, in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. We are recognized as one of the main children’s healthcare facilities in the city, serving families and young patients with a wide range of pediatric conditions — from common illnesses to chronic diseases.

Today, our hospital stands as a cornerstone of pediatric healthcare in Sulaymaniyah, guided by a legacy of service and a vision for a healthier future for every child.

Our History

Founding and Purpose

  • Our hospital is named in honor of Dr. Jamal Ahmad Rashid, a respected pediatrician from Sulaymaniyah who dedicated much of his life to children’s health. Dr. Jamal was born in 1945 in Sulaymaniyah, graduated from medical college in 1969, and served as a doctor for 47 years, treating large numbers of children each day before retiring in 2015, while continuing to volunteer and support pediatric care.

  • Our hospital was founded to provide specialized pediatric healthcare and has grown into a key institution in the region for children requiring clinical treatment, chronic care, and emergency services. As a teaching hospital, we also support pediatric research, medical education, and professional training.

Role in the Community

Our carers love what they do, and that's what makes them so special.

  • Over the years, our hospital has played a central role in child healthcare in Sulaymaniyah, serving a large portion of the city’s pediatric population and contributing to research and clinical practice in pediatric medicine. Medical studies conducted within our hospital address conditions ranging from epilepsy to chronic disease management, highlighting our importance as both a treatment and research center.

  • Like many public healthcare institutions, our hospital has faced challenges related to staffing and resources; however, we continue to serve as a vital healthcare provider for families who depend on public medical services.
