The Best Care For Mother & Baby

If there’s one thing we’re proud of above everything else, it’s our exceptional maternity care.

The new Jamal Memorial Trust Hospital will contain many different departments focussing on a wide range of medical services and specialisms, yet the one we’re most proud of being able to provide is our brand new, state-of-the-art maternity unit.

Currently, the provision of maternity and neonatal care in Mian Channu is well below the standards that are taken for granted in most other countries around the world. According to the Pakistan Demographic and Health Survey, carried out each year, the maternal mortality ratio in rural areas currently stands at about 319 per 100,000 live births. In the UK, that figure currently stands at approx. 10 deaths per 100,000 live births, so you can see that’s quite a difference!

Each year, many mothers from Mian Channu suffer complications during pregnancy or labour, or just after giving birth, that could be very easily avoided if adequate maternity care were available. Additionally, many new born babies die from conditions that, in the West, would be either avoided altogether or treated very quickly.

We believe that this state of affairs is unacceptable. The Jamal Memorial Trust Hospital fundamentally believes that every single mother and child deserves the best opportunity; that every baby deserves the best fighting chance at life, and that every woman deserves the right to bring their child into the world without the risk of it killing them.

That’s why we’re building a new world-class maternity unit at the Jamal Memorial Trust Hospital that will rival any in the West, and we will provide free maternity and neonatal healthcare, delivered by qualified and experienced doctors and midwives, to any woman or child that needs it. We know that we can’t prevent every single death, but we promise to do everything in our power to prevent as many deaths as possible. Because everybody, no matter what their income, religion, background or politics, deserves the best chance at life.

Unfortunately, however, we can’t do any of this without much-needed donations from generous, kind-hearted benefactors such as you. This is a community project being built by the community, for the community, but we need your help to achieve our goals. If you would like to make a donation, however small, to help us build our brand new, state-of-the-art maternity unit, then please make a donation via our online donations page.

Alternatively, if you’d like to know more or get involved in any other way, then please do get in touch with us; we’d love to hear from you and would appreciate your help in whatever form it came!
